Frequently asked questions

What should I do first if I missed the Corporate Tax deadline?+

File the return and pay any tax as soon as possible. The late filing penalty adds AED 500 for each month of delay during the first year and AED 1,000 a month after that, so every month you wait costs more.

How do I challenge an FTA penalty?+

Submit a reconsideration request to the FTA within 40 business days of the penalty decision, with your reasons and evidence. If the FTA rejects it, the next step is the Tax Disputes Resolution Committee.

Can the AED 10,000 late Corporate Tax registration penalty be waived?+

Yes, if the first Corporate Tax return is filed within 7 months of the end of the first tax period. Outside that window the route is a reconsideration request.

Does a dormant company with no revenue still have to file?+

Yes. Every registered UAE company must file a Corporate Tax return for each tax period, even with zero revenue, and the late filing penalties apply to nil returns too.
